What’s Inkstuds?

Inkstuds was a podcast that I ran from 2005 to 2019. My main focus was interviewing cartoonists. I ended up doing more than 750 interviews with a huge range of different cartoonists. Preparing and conducting interviews is a lot of work, but I do really miss doing it. I may do interviews again one day, but not anytime quickly. You can find them all here as well.

Why substack?

I feel like the Inkstuds website is an historical archive at this point. My hope is to use this venue as a space to talk about what I am currently reading, bringing attention to creators that I think are making interesting work. Posting may be infrequent and scattered, as I hope to keep it a project of pleasure and not pressure to produce. I will probably also post old podcasts that feel currently timely. I will also show books from my archives or recent finds from my own shopping and research. Subscribe to get full access to the newsletter and publication archives.
